Brrr, it's cold outside!

With freezing temperatures and looming snow, what better activity is there than curling up with a good book? Our cataloger has been hard at work churning out new books over the past couple weeks, so please take a look at some of the highlights.

Since you might have to stay in, why not start that paper early? If you're looking for a topic, try:
Should the Drinking Age Be Lowered? by Hal Marcovitz
The Other Parent: The Inside Story of the Media's Effect on Our Children by James P. Steyer
Teens at Risk: Opposing Viewpoints by Christine Watkins
The Ethics of Capital Punishment: A Philosophical Investigation of Evil and Its Consequences by Matthew H. Kramer
Roe v. Wade: The Abortion Rights Controversy in American History by N. E. H. Hull

Are you a lover of biographies? Then try:
Vegetables: A Biography by Evelyne Bloch-Dano
Steve Jobs: The Man Who Thought Different: A Biography by Karen Blumenthal
Coco Chanel: The Legend and the Life by Justine Picardie

How about music?
Whitney 1963-2012: We Will Always Love You by James Robert Parish
Beyonce by Andrew Vaughan
Cyndi Lauper: A Memoir by Cyndi Lauper
Pete Seeger: In His Own Words by Pete Seeger
Taylor Swift by Andrew Vaughan

Many of you will be graduating this spring. Perhaps some of these titles might help you with your job search.

The VDHRM issued a mandate concerning part-time workers as a result of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obama Care). If you need a primer on this legislation, take a look at Rosemary Gibson's The Battle Over Health Care: What Obama's Reform Means for America's Future.

PVCC just opened up an off-site campus at Jefferson School Center with classes in the culinary arts. We have wonderful cookbooks in our collection, including our newest addition, The Culinarian: A Kitchen Desk Reference.

I could go on and on and still not highlight all of our best new books. Instead, take a look at the new books list or catalog for more. Stay warm and safe this weekend. Enjoy!
