#fridayreads: Great Outdoors Month

“...so I took it out with me into the garden, because the dullest book takes on a certain saving grace if read out of doors, just as bread and butter, devoid of charm in the drawing-room, is ambrosia eaten under a tree.”
―Elizabeth and Her German Garden

June is Great Outdoors Month and for some of us that means camping, hiking, biking, swimming, and slapping at mosquitoes. Others prefer more leisurely outdoor pursuits like reading a book in the shade of a tree, gardening, or relaxing in a hammock, although there will still be inevitable mosquito swatting. Whatever your preference, if you would like guidance on wilderness survival (tip: bring cheese, always cheese), or information on hikes and trails in central Virginia, Jessup Library has books for you. One last reminder: if you run into wildlife leave it be unless it's a large smarter-than-the-average bear with a picnic basket.
