Where In The World Are Our Books?
Did you know that the Jessup Library lends nearly 350 books and articles every semester to other libraries all over the country?
From as close as UVA, to as far away as California and Alaska, our books and articles have helped other students, researchers, and readers with their information needs! We've even sent books to the libraries of important agencies, such as the Mayo Clinic and the US Department of Defense!
This is called Interlibrary Loan, where libraries share their materials with each other.
And are you ready for the best part? Interlibrary Loan is available for YOU to use, FOR FREE! Do you have a book or article you want to read and use for your upcoming research project, but our library doesn't have it in our collection or databases? Just fill out an Interlibrary Loan Request and provide us with as many details about the item as possible, including Title, Author, and Publisher. Our librarians will start digging, find a library that has access to the material, and have it sent to us! Books will usually be delivered to the Jessup Library within 2-4 days for you to pick up, and articles will be emailed directly to you electronically.
Before requesting, make sure you are aware of our Interlibrary Loan policies:
- You must be a PVCC student, faculty, or staff member to request items through Interlibrary Loan.
- The request must be for college-related research (no personal requests allowed).
- You may request up to 6 articles and 3 books at one time. Additional requests may not be made until the other items are delivered.
- No request for textbooks or any required texts for a course are allowed.
- If a book is damaged or lost, the requestor is responsible for the fee charged by the lending library.
