Summer Celebrations! - International Day of the Seafarer
Thursday, June 25th
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE SEAFARER
Established by the International Maritime Organization in 2010, the International Day of the Seafarer honors the men and women who work within sea trade and shipping. This holiday is recognized as an observance day by the United Nations. During this pandemic, seafarers have continued to be on the front lines, ensuring the continued flow of vital goods, such as food and medical supplies, many unsure of when they will be able to return home due to travel restrictions.
Ways To Celebrate:
1. Raise awareness for these essential individuals and thank them for their continued dedication by posting to social media and using the hashtag, #SeafarersAreKeyWorkers
2. Watch movies and read books that tell the stories of those who spend their lives at sea.
