National Drive-Thru Day

Did you know that the drive-thru was originally created for banking? Then in 1931 a food company in California started having their customers order through the window and it spread from there. Popularized in 1948 by another California staple, In-N-Out,
the drive-thru was here to stay.
In 2020's environment with the arrival of Covid, drive-thru's have become essential to the daily operations of everyone. Businesses have adapted to "curb-side service" which is in effect a type of drive-thru for anything and everything, whether it be clothing, groceries, books, the drive-thru has become an important part of survival. The innovation has even been used to great effect by some public libraries and they have been able to continue to provide readers with books. Something that was once a convenience has now become a necessity in order for society to continue to function while protecting its citizens.
The creation of the drive-thru was an adaptation to allow patrons to continue on their day without ever having to step out of their car. The drive-thru model, from banks to fast food restaurants, and prescription pick-ups has
now begun to serve our society in an unorthodox way; however, it
demonstrates that some ideas, even the ones we are accustomed to, can become vitally important.
