#fridayreads: John Lennon's Birthday
John Lennon's 80th birthday is today, October 9. Although he's not here to celebrate it, his music and legacy with The Beatles and as a solo musician live on. He wasn't just a singer and song writer -- he was a peace activist who encouraged people everywhere to love and accepts others. As you can see from the photo below, one of the Jessup Library staff members is a fan. John Lennon accomplished more in his 41 years on earth than many people do in 80, but the one thing he didn't do is check out books from Jessup Library. Luckily, that option is available to you!
You can start with a biography of The Beatles, then move on to The Cambridge Companion to the Beatles. If you're looking for more information about Lennon, try The Cynical Idealist, The Words and Music of John Lennon, or John Lennon: the life. If you prefer to read an electronic book, we have The Beatles in Context and We're Going to See the Beatles!
All you need is love... and a library card or student ID.
