One Book Talk with Dr. RaShall M. Brackney - October 19

One Book Talk with Dr. RaShall M. Brackney:

Black Lives Matter, Policing, & Freedom of Speech in Charlottesville

Monday, October 19 12:00pm

Interested in learning more about how the criminal justice system and police silence marginalized populations through dehumanization? Interested in learning how to end it?

Join us, Monday, October 19, 2020 at noon for a virtual talk by Dr. RaShall M. Brackney, Chief of Police for the City of Charlottesville.

The intersectionality of policing and the dehumanizing of minority groups is a long-standing practice built on institutions of supremacy. These institutions form the foundations of the modern-day criminal justice system.

This talk will further examine the cross-intersectionality of the seminal work by Michelle Alexander’sThe New Jim Crow with How to be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi, in order to lay the foundations for dismantling systems meant to silence marginalized communities.
