#fridayreads: Lincoln's Birthday
February 10 is the 212th birthday of Abraham Lincoln. Honest Abe might not have actually walked miles to return a penny, but humor us in assuming that he'd walk from one of PVCC's various parking lots to Jessup Library to return a book he had checked out. During a pandemic he might even request that the library mail him and book as well as a free return label! Did you know we provide this service? Bet he's wishing he could time travel right now. If you'd like some books about Lincoln mailed to you, may we suggest the following:
- Abraham Lincoln in the Kitchen (using a fork, spoon, and knife for the ultimate experience)
- Founders' Son (which highlights Lincoln's lifelong struggle to carry on the work of the Founding Fathers when they refused to return his texts)
- Lincoln's Greatest Case (involving the most consequential trial of Lincoln's career as a lawyer)
- Team of Rivals: the political genius of Abraham Lincoln (shows how Lincoln brought his political opponents together)
- "We Are Lincoln Men" : Abraham Lincoln and his friends (spoiler: the president did not have many close friends)
- Lincoln the Inventor (not only did he manage to get his profile on the penny after his death, he was the only U.S. President to hold a registered patent -- now there is some hustle!)
- The Fiery Trial (we will leave the content of this title a mystery in this blog post but remember the old saying: where there's smoke, there's fire)
Can't wait to get your hands on a print book? We have electronic books that you can read immediately. A few of our titles:
