About the Panelists:


Wyatt Andrews is a professor of practice at the University of Virginia, teaching media and journalism in the Media Studies Department. Throughout his 41-year career in broadcast journalism, he reported local news for seven years, and he was a CBS News National Correspondent based in Washington DC covering politics, health care, veterans'​ affairs, and foreign affairs. Andrews won three Emmy Awards: for coverage of the Gandhi assassination (1984), the Reagan-Gorbachev summit in Reykjavik, Iceland (1986) and the Washington sniper case (2003). Andrews was born in New Orleans and grew up in Norfolk, Va.. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1974 with honors with a B.A. in government and foreign affairs.


Elliott Robinson is news director for Virginia Public Media (VPM). A Hampton, Va. native, Robinson is a 15-year
veteran of print and digital publications. He began his career as a reporter and columnist at The Progress-Index in Petersburg and went on to work in leadership roles at the Hopewell News, The Daily Progress in Charlottesville, and Charlottesville Tomorrow. Robinson is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, a life member of the NAACP, and a board member of the Virginia Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
 

Dan Schutte started at CBS19 in June of 2006. Dan anchors CBS19 News at 5 and FOX Virginia News at 10. Dan comes to the area from Northern Minnesota, where he was an anchor for WDIO-TV in Duluth. Prior to that, he was a reporter and anchor in Eureka, California. During his career, he has covered several national stories and won awards for his work. Dan is originally from the Minneapolis area. He graduated from American University in Washington, D.C. with a degree in broadcast journalism. He was also a member of the Division I wrestling team there.
