Feminist Month
We Should All Be Feminists, that's what Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie argues in her essay of this title. In this month's display, we explore the arguments for being a feminist and how to be a feminist, such as in Bell Hook's Feminism Is for Everybody, in which the storied author illuminates what feminism is and how to support the feminist cause. In Mikki Kendall's Hood Feminism: notes from the women that a movement forgot, Kendall focuses on the gap between issues brought to the fore by mainstream feminists and the great disparity of what the marginalized populations have to deal with on a daily basis and how these issues are not addressed nearly as assiduously.
Whether you are interested in the beginnings of suffrage (women fighting for the right to vote) or in the women who have made a difference throughout history, we have books for you!
Come on in and check out our displays!
