Read A New Book! 📚

A new book is a world untraveled to, just waiting to be read and to take a reader on a journey across pages to new places and to meet new characters. Books are teachers, and entertainers, and reminders of stories that have been lost.

If you wish to delve into the world of the American Revolution through the time-traveling books by Diana Gabaldon, her most recent adventure is titled Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone. Take up renowned science fiction writer Ursula K. Le Guin's book No Time To Spare, a small volume that contains some of her blog articles that touch on life in all its forms from the everyday to the grander considerations that come to us as we live life and as we age.

In Unsung: Unheralded Narratives of American Slavery & Abolition, follow the stories of enslaved people telling their own history. Drawn from the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture's vast collection of Black culture archives in Harlem, this book is a compilation of historical documents that give back agency to those that were enslaved by bringing their voices to the fore in their own words. It is well worth checking out the letters, articles, speeches, poems, plays, and more in this volume.

Not all books are informative, but all books teach us something. Be bold and step out of your comfort zone and a new perspective will be gleaned! Happy reading!
