⚜ Women's History Month ⚜

For the month of March, as we creep into warmer weather and brighter days, we at Jessup Library are celebrating Women's History Month. This year, Women's History Month's theme is "Celebrating women who tell our stories". In honor of that, we have pulled books from our collection that are about women, women's rights, and are written by women. Ranging from Diana Gabaldon's historical fiction Outlander, to Charlotte Gordon's Romantic Outlaws: the extraordinary lives of Mary Wollstonecraft and her daughter Mary Shelley.

We have included books in this month's display on women and art, such as Women Artists: an illustrated history and Great Women Artists, and books on feminism, such as Ngozi Adichie's Dear Ijeawele or A Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions and The Pink Sari Revolution, about women protecting other women in India from domestic violence. Delve into Peter Bagge's biographical Fire!! The Zora Neale Hurston Story about the eminent author, or learn about The Radium Girls--the women who were poisoned by their jobs by painting glowing watch faces and their struggle for worker's rights.

Whether you prefer Jane Austen or informative books about women and their work, we have a book for you!
