🎊Hispanic Heritage Month

At Jessup Library we are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month this September. We are displaying the glorious writers that have influenced Hispanic writing throughout the years, from Gabriel Garcia Marquez to Isabel Allende. Hispanic Heritage Month is a great time to highlight Hispanic artists who have given so much to the world through their work.

Start by exploring the history of Mexico’s festival of The Day of the Dead in the book Skulls to the Living, Bread to the Dead. Or, if you are more interested in fiction, pick up Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s classic Love in the Time of Cholera, or we have the Spanish version El amor en los tiempos del cólera. We also have novels by Julia Alvarez, In the Time of the Butterflies and Afterlife, as well as several Isabel Allende novels, from Portrait in Sepia to The House of Spirits.

Whatever your preference, we hope you join us in celebrating the Hispanic authors and their forebears! Happy reading!
